Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3 – Vissel Kobe 2 (J-League, May 19, 2012) Ryota Moriwaki scored a decider in stoppage time to give Hiroshima a dramatic 3-2 win over Vissel Kobe.

Cerezo Osaka 1 – Kashiwa Reysol 2 (J-League, May 19, 2012) Leandro and Junya Tanaka scored in the second half to lead defending champions Kashiwa Reysol to a 2-1 win over Cerezo Osaka.

Albirex Niigata 1 – Jubilo Iwata 6 (J-League, May 19, 2012) Ryoichi Maeda scored twice for the visitors, with Yuki Kobayashi, Byung-Kuk Cho, Takuya Matsuura and Hiroki Yamada also on the scoresheet. Kobayashi also scored at the other end for Albirex’s only reply.

Yokohama F. Marinos 0 – Gamba Osaka 0 (J-League, May 19, 2012)

Urawa Red Diamonds 1 – Shimizu S-Pulse 0 (J-League, May 19, 2012) Shimizu S-Pulse dropped to third with a 1-0 loss at Urawa Red Diamonds, Yuki Abe scoring the only goal three minutes before the interval.

Usually when things like this happens it’s not a one off.

There are a handful of goalkeepers located in various corners of the planet who carry reputations for scoring free-kicks and penalties with some regularity. That statement, however, fails to ring true for Danijel Subasic.

27-years-old, current Monaco custodian Subasic had never scored a goal in his career before Friday night. Then, against relegation threatened Boulogne, that all changed.

In the 56th minute, with the scores locked a one-apiece, the Principality won a free-kick just outside the home Boulogne box. Croatian keeper Subasic deceided to marked 80-yards upfield to stand over the set-play, and amazingly the goalie curled a low shot into the bottom corner.

Blackpool 1 – West Ham 2 (Championship Playoff Final, May 19, 2012) The Irons were first to strike late in the first half when Matt Taylor made headway down the left before playing a delightful ball to Carlton Cole, who brought it down well and buried it into the roof of the net. Blackpool levelled early in the second half when Matt Phillips pinged a perfect pass over the West Ham defence for Thomas Ince, and the youngster drilled a superb angled finish past Rob Green. With three minutes remaining West Ham scored the clincher as Carlton Cole shifted the ball to Ricardo Vaz Te in the Seasiders’ box, and the Portuguese forward slammed the winner into the roof of the net.

Tigres went top of the Argentinian Clausura on Friday night, and they did so in style.

Forward Carlos Luna was the hero claiming a match-winning hat-trick for Tigres, and his third and final goal was a moment of magic.

Following an 81st minute Tigres corner, the ball was headed up in the air around the edge of the six-yard box. Then, despite moving away from goal and having just the narrowest of angles to aim for, “Chino” Luna launched himself into an overhead-kick that resulted in a sublime golazo.

Universitatea Cluj 2 – CFR Cluj 3 (Liga I, May 18, 2012) Marian Cristescu scored a brace to fire Universitatea 2-up, but CFR swung the match through Gabriel Muresan (thunderous free-kick), Modou Sougou and Ricardo Cadu’s last gasp penalty to open up a 3-point gap at the top of the table.

Vointa Sibiu 3 – CS Mioveni 1 (Liga I, May 18, 2012) A brace from Andrei Zagrean helped Vointa come from behind to win.
